So I'm going to keep it absolutely 100 with you - I despise using twitter. This is mainly because of my personal twitter, but twitter as a platform annoys me. Even within the sphere of education, it's mainly a cesspool of people all believing that they're right and you're wrong. I remember my professor last semester had a common habit of showing us terrible twitter takes before class - this is all of twitter. Every teacher thinks they're an angel who runs the best classroom that has absolutely zero issues and if you don't do what they say to do then you're a terrible teacher who's ruining lives... yeah, I don't like twitter.
I think digital divide is a difficult thing to solve in classrooms - particularly because schools don't receive a lot of funding for extra things like computers. Ideally, with America heading towards a more STEM-focused education, the government will be more likely to aid in providing electronics for students, but until that happens digital divide is kind of impossible to stop as an individual. In terms of how I believe it will effect my classroom - I don't think it will be too much of a problem. I want to let students do as they please in terms of engaging with content; so if they have/want to use a computer, they may, but I won't force it or require it.
Academic software is a fairly standard thing. Of course, Microsoft products are something I'd like to implement. They're fairly basic but important tools that every student needs to know; word, excel, powerpoint, even Microsoft Teams is a great tool for students. Another software I'd like to use is one I talked about before, Discord. I think it has a lot of great uses for organization and communication among students, the issue is worrying about informalities when using a social media platform for education. That being said, there are programable bots that can police chats in Discord, so it's not too much of an issue.
Forgive me... but this is something we've already answered, right? As I said before, I don't like badges, though I've had interaction with them before, and I definitely do not plan on implementing them in my classroom.
