This week has been very, very unfortunate for me. I came down with a sickness, not too sure what, close to the start of the week and I have been plagued by it ever since. I took a rapid covid test when I first felt sick, which was negative, however I fear that that may have been wrong. The strange part is that it has come and gone - I'll feel really sick for a day but the next day I'll be completely fine. Tomorrow I'm going to go get a full test, though at this point I'm not sure if it matters anymore, I've already quarantined past CDC recommendations.
As for my prior experience using technology in an educational setting I actually have a good deal of a past with this. I ran a Discord server in my junior and senior year of high school - COVID years.... - that was used for tutoring students of all ages. Discord itself is a communication platform, however it's great for storing conversations, documents, etc. I was able to archive threads full of lessons, explanations, and examples for anyone to access by course, chapter, and lesson. I highly recommend it as a supplement to online courses, it's something I'll be looking to use in the future when I teach.
There are a couple of online learning resources that I like to use. Firstly, despite how many people complain about it, I do like Canvas. Having everything centered in one place regardless of which class it is with the ability to see which things are due on any given day is quite nice. Prior to coming to college though, I used a third party app called Asana, which has a similar functions. Typically it's used to organize groupwork or organizations, however using it personally can be equally effective. You're able to organize assignments by sections and display them in a multitude of various methods, once again good for general organizations and reminding me of due dates (something I'm not too great with).
As an aside, my apologies for making this post slightly late. As I mentioned above I've been teetering back and forth on the sickness scale and today/yesterday was a heavy bad day, unfortunately.
Hey Aidan,
ReplyDeleteI hope that you get better soon! You deffiently have a leg up on the software
Hey sorry about that, I accidently hit the enter button lol. I have never thought about Discord until you mentioned it. I have used Discord as well as Groupme. They are pretty easy to use. I think you will do very well in this class seeing that you have a great background in software. I also like using Canvas. It helps me keep everything in front. Being able to see when things are due and the time frame in which I have to work this is pretty nice!
DeleteI just hit enter and it just did it's normal thing. Not sure what I hit to publish the first comment. :P
